Our Story

So for those who don't know how Kevin and I met-Here you go!
Kevin and I originall
y met each other as we both served an LDS Mission in the Portland Oregon Mission. I was home for about 2 years from my mission, living in Utah; when I was offered a job as a Dental Assistant in Glendale, AZ.
I decided to take a weekend jaunt with my then brand new puppy,
Olive-a 10 hour drive to see if Arizona was for me. As I was visiting Ari
zona I decided to check out the local Young Single Adult ward. As I walked in, I saw a familiar face.
At the end of Sacrament I walked up to Kevin, not knowing his first name and said "Hey, Elder Bias-do you remember me?" Smooth I thought, that is still he responded back with "
Hey, Victoria!" I felt kinda dumb for not knowing his first name and didn't know how he knew mine. Well, we walked outside and talked in the "comforts" of the 115 degree weather for about an hour. It was shortly after that conversation that something told me that Arizona was the place for me.
I returned to Utah, packed up my car and dog and moved to Glendale, Az on July 15th 2009. As I got settled in my new job and apartment, I forgot about that Kevin kid-that is until I got on
facebook one night. I saw that Kevin was online, and once again I was the one that decided to say "hi." As we talked for a bit I decided to ask him what he was doi
ng the following weekend, he told me had "prior" plans, aka: a date. I gave him my number and left the ball in his court at that point.
I got a text from him a day later asking what I was up
to that night, that was on a Thursday. He came over and we watched the
classic disney flick, Aladdin.
It was then I realized that he was a fun guy if he wanted to watch a disney movie, those who know me know that I am always up for a fun filled night of disney cartoon movies! We had a fun night- we talked about life post-mission, looked at pictures and just got to know each other.
At that point, Kevin was working a security job where he worked night shift. The following day, he was supposed to be working- so I decided to text him and see how work was going. He told me that the job that he was going to secure had ended so he had the night off. Me being bold (this usually, isnt me) decided to see if he wanted t
o do something since he didn't have to work. We agreed to see
a movie, after the movie we went to his parents house, talked some more and watched Shrek-now with that pick I knew he was a keeper!
This was our first "official" date. I went home that night not being able to sleep and continually thinking about this Kevin guy. I've never had that type of a reaction to a date and kept telling
myself to stop being a "dumb girl" and go to bed. The next day, Saturday, I got a text from Kevin saying the following, " do you want to c
ome over and play wrestling?" Not knowing what that meant, I called a friend in Utah to ask for her opinion, we joked about what does one wear to "play wrestling." After debating about it, I decided I would go and at least see what he meant by that invitation. As I got to his house I was relieved to find out that it was a Wrestle Mania video game that him and his best friend, another former OPM-er, Brandon were playing.
We played the game for a bit, watched an
other movie (we like movies, if you couldn't tell) and then talked til 5:30 am, oh and then there was our first kiss!
After we both got a few hours of sleep, we met each other for church and afterwards came back to my apartment. Some how as we were talking and enjoying each others company the last few days, something clicked in both of us. It was that Sunday, yes, just 3 days after our Aladdin night, that we both decided that the other would be our future spouse. Being smart, knowing what others reactions would be, we decided to keep this to our selves and continue on the
dating track. Although, we started making arrangements of a wedding date in about a 6 month time range.
The following weekend we were at the mall and decided to look at rings. I've gone with friends, friends boyfriends, and my mom to this-but its a whole different feeling when its with the one you will marry. We looked at several styles and types and decided that we would wait a few months before getting engaged.
The next weekend my cousin Janelle came to visit and I was talking non-stop about Kevin, we went to the mall the I decided to show the rings that we had looked at, of course I had my favorite but didn't want Kevin to know it. As I was looking for the ring that I loved, it was gone. Little did I know that Kevin bought it just two days prior to our girls shopping day.
The last weekend of August led us to a weekend in Dubo
is, Wyoming to visit my parents, this would also be Kevin's first time meeting them. We had a fun weekend of 4-wheeling and enjoying the slow-country way of life. Kevin, being the sneaky guy that he is, somehow cornered
my parents to have "the" talk without me knowing.
On our last day visiting Dubois, Kevin and I went on a drive. I thought he was acting a little off, but I w
as enjoying the beautiful scenery. Our last little scenery stop, was on top of a hill, one side looked out to the town, the other side was gorgeous country side. Kevin was taking pictures and getting down on the ground to get the "perfect picture." He slowly turned to me, and for a moment the wind stopped and it was silent and said "I have a question for you...You know I love you...and that I want to spend the rest of my life with you...Victoria Hope, will you marry me." Not paying atte
ntion to him holding my "dream" ring,
I of course said yes! His response was, "No Battle!" (Those who are former OPM-ers understand that statement.)
We drove back to my parents house and told the
m the good news. And started planning for our big day.
After a long awaited 6 month engagement of planning-Kevin and I were married on February 27th 2010 for Time and All Eternity in the LDS Mesa Temple.
